My name is Sue, and I live on 5 acres in a rural section of the Columbia River Gorge in the PNW. As a woman of wisdom and experience (code words for age), I am starting over in a variety of ways. Left the city, a 20 year career in higher education, and a beautiful landscape of veggie, herb, and perennial gardens - the gardens were the most painful separation! I am thrilled with my new direction and its many opportunities.
I have played with herbs for over 25 years, mostly gardening and cooking. I am currently engaged in a self-study of herbal medicine-making and planning/starting an array of herb gardens to surround my fenced in veggie production garden. Not quite ready to retire, I am creating a small nursery specializing in herbs. I am also starting a rather unique gift basket business that will feature herbal products, locally produced foods & pottery, inspirational books, etc.
Though I have gardened for many years (and my spouse believes that I own every gardening book published
), I recently completed Master Gardener training - a worthy and humbling experience. I started the program believing that I knew a lot and finished realizing how little I knew! I also do a bit of freelance writing and editing, read everything that falls in my general direction and play with yarn and material when its too yucky to be outside.
I look forward to discussions with folks who enjoy all things herbal.
